Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation at 9 am today. Recalling his five decades of service to the nation, Modi says he can understand the ordeals faced by the farmers. He said when people made him the Prime Minister, he decided to make Krishi vikas or farmers’ development as the utmost priority amongst all.

Modi said that three farm laws were brought to empower and strengthen small farmers, adding that it was a demand by farmers, economists and agri experts. Modi ensured that he is putting sedulous efforts to improve farmers’ financial well-being. “We brought in farm laws with good intentions”.

“We could not convince farmers. A section of them was against the laws. But we tried our best to inform and educate them. Which is what we are repealing the farm laws. We tried our best to explain the matter to farmers and were ready to alter the laws”.

“The issue went till the Supreme Court and we are repealing the laws, he said. As Modi addressed the nation, he requested farmers, on this auspicious day of Guru Purab, to return to their homes and fields. ” I will make sure to work harder and fulfil your dreams”

In order to overcome the challenges of farmers, he said they worked on seeds, insurance, markets and savings. “Along with good quality seeds, the government also connected the farmers with facilities like neem coated urea, soil health card, micro-irrigation”.

Modi highlighted that they could improve agricultural production as the his-led government gave soil health cards to farmers. Fasal Bima Yojana has also helped farmers and one lakh crore have been given to farmers as compensation, besides bima and pension.

He further emphasized how the rural market infrastructure has improved drastically along with the rise of MSP. “1,000 mandis have been linked to e-mandis, thus providing them a platform to sell their produce at any place in India” The micro-irrigation fund and crop loan have been multiplied and annual budgets have been raised in favour of farmers.

As we recall, PM Modi addressed the nation last time when the country made a milestone by becoming the second country after China to reach the one billion COVID-19 vaccinations milestone in October. He tweeted “Today is the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Today PM will inaugurate key schemes relating to irrigation in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh. Then, he will go to Jhansi for the ‘Rashtra Raksha Samparpan Parv.’ Before all of these programmes, he will address the nation at 9 AM”.
