Punjab Polls: Sonu Sood’s Sister To Contest From Moga

The Congress party has announced its first list of candidates for the Punjab Assembly elections and this list of 86 has some noted names. Punjab PCC chief and ex-cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu is given Amritsar East constituency while CM Charanjit Singh Channi will contest from Chamkaur Sahib constituency.

Actor Sonu Sood’s sister Malvika Sood has recently joined the Congress and she managed to get a ticket as well. Moga is the constituency Malavika Sood will be contesting while singer Sidhu Moosewala is picked for Mansa constituency.

A lot of eyes are on Malvika as this marks her political debut. When she joined the Congress, actor Sonu Sood accompanied her. But Sonu Sood has taken a drastic decision to stay away from politics and he also clarified that he would not be campaigning for her sister.

For his philanthropic work, Sonu Sood received huge appreciation and there was anticipation for his political debut too. But Sonu kept politics at bay despite his sister being in poll foray.

Punjab elections are crucial for the Congress and the party is carefully announcing its candidates. So far there were no upsets from the first list announced and we have to wait for the remaining candidates to be looked at.

Punjab Assembly consists of 117 legislators and it will go for voting on February 14th. The results will be declared on March 10th, 2022.
