KCR Avoids Telangana Guv Tamilisai For Budget Sessions?

Telangana CM KCR has held a review meeting with Finance minister Harish Rao and officials of finance ministry on the budget. In this meeting the date for the commencement of budget sessions has been finalised on March 7th. However in a big development, the CM KCR has decided to avoid the Governor’s address ahead of the budget sessions.

But the final decision is not yet taken. On March 6th, the Telangana cabinet will be assembling at Pragathi Bhavan and will unanimously approve the cabinet. The next day Finance minister Harish Rao would be directly introducing the budget in the Assembly avoiding Governor’s address.

This decision of CM KCR to exclude the Governor’s speech raked up a huge debate. Ever since Tamilisai Soundararajan was appointed as Telangana Governor, CM KCR is maintaining strategic distance with her yet he continued to approach her whenever there is a need.

But in recent times, CM KCR kept Governor Tamilisai at bay. During the Medaram Carnival (Jathara), the protocol of inviting the Governor was not followed by the TRS government and the latest move of KCR is evident that he is playing the political cards with proper plan.

The TRS insiders believe that there are multiple reasons behind KCR’s acts. Apparently Governor Tamilisai delayed the process of finalising MLC candidates especially in the case of Padi Kaushik Reddy. Later CM KCR and all TRS ministers avoided the Republic Day celebrations at Raj Bhavan (Governor’s official residence).

And when asked about the Governor’s address in budget sessions, the TRS leaders are citing the scenes of 1970 and 2014 wherein the budget sessions were held without the Governor’s speech.
