Jagan Benefited Rs 300 cr To Sakshi: ABN RK

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy seems to be having animosity with not the opposition parties alone but also some media organisations too like Andhrajyothi, Eenadu and TV5. Reddy himself disclosed this at a review meeting with the officials and this helps one understand the intensity of Jagan’s acrimony towards ‘yellow media’ as the party leaders call them.

Responding to the CM’s remarks, Andhrajyothi MD Vemuri Radhakrishna, through his weekly column in his newspaper, revealed facts about the income the Telugu news daily had lost during the last three years. However, RK made it clear that he would not compromise on raising voice against Jagan’s anti-people policies. Jagan would certainly consider the
pro-public media fighting for people’s rights as crazy, he said.

He alleged that Jagan benefited his own media group Sakshi to the tune of Rs 300 crore in the form of advertisements, since he assumed power as the chief minister. RK said that this was the first time in the country that such a huge amount was spent just on advertisements by any government, after Independence.

In the last three years, not even one advertisement was given by the AP government to Andhrajyothi group but we did not beg for them. Jagan’s government got advertisements published and telecast on only the media he liked and ignored Andhrajyothi completely, RK said, adding that they had foregone nearly Rs 250 crore of their share of ad revenue during Jagan’s rule. “But, we had never compromised on voicing people’s concerns and grievances, which is the main motto of any media organization.

“There had been many attempts to mediate but Andhrajyothi did not change its policy. We believe that the state is getting destroyed under Jagan’s rule,” he asserted.

Probably, this is the first time that RK had made public the losses their organization was incurring due to Jagan’s government. This reflects the indomitable spirit and determination of RK in fighting for a cause.
