Renuka’s Challenge: Name Amaravati as ‘Kammaravati’

Former Union minister Renuka Chowdary made some sensational comments against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and challenged him to name the state’s capital as Kammaravati.

Being an educated person, does he not know the historical significance of Amaravati and how can he make a mockery of it, she asked. “He said that Amaravati has been made Kammaravati. If you really have the guts, then name it as Kammaravati,” she challenged.

The former Union minister also alleged that Jagan’s government was trying to suppress and disintegrate the Kamma community. She said that the patience of Kamma community should not be misunderstood or underestimated. Being good should not be considered as weakness, she said.

She also alleged that some political forces were trying to suppress their community by ascribing a colour and giving it a name. She warned those forces of sharp retaliation if such attempts continued.

She was speaking at a Atmeeya Sammelanam organised by the Kamma community at Varni in Nizamabad district.

She criticised the powers that be for ruining a state by neglecting development. The conditions in the state are so pathetic that people are being forced to pack up and move to other states. “But is it possible? Be sure that people will not take the extreme step,” she said.

The people are being made idle and lazy, indirectly hinting at the numerous welfare programmes being implemented in AP. If the voters do not stop this misrule, it will hit us back in the future, she warned.
