AP claims highest testing rate in the country

Amidst facing criticism from opposition on low testing and COVID-19 treatment facilities, the government of Andhra Pradesh claimed highest testing rate in the country. AP’s special chief secretary for health, Jawahar Reddy said samples are tested for 1,147 persons out of every 10 lakhs population.

Speaking to media, Jawahar Reddy said “So far, 60250 people have been tested negative and when compared with other states, the number of positive cases to total samples collected ratio is low. 52 out of 61 new cases reported the other day have come from old clusters.”

While 171 patients have been recovered and discharged from hospital, the health CS said officials are focused on saturation levels in the body. “By testing the oxygen saturation level, we are making necessary recommendations to COVID-19 hospitals in the state.

We have deployed 1174 medical specialists in state and sending a team of doctors to hotspots where more number of cases are reported. Also, we have taken essential measures to make sure dialysis patients face no problem in this lockdown,” – said Jawahar Reddy.

The health CS has recommended people to dial 104 if people in the red zones and containment clusters face anytime of breathing problem.
