Congress Disrupted NTR and MGR Govts: Modi

In the vote of thanks to the President of India’s address to the Parliament, PM Narendra Modi spoke in the Rajya Sabha and he came down heavily on Congress party. Modi hit back at Congress arguments of dismantling their state governments in several states.

“Congress party has misused Article 356 of Indian Constitution against opposition parties and government. In Tamil Nadu, MGR and Karunanidhi governments were dismissed undemocratically and when NTR was in the USA for medical reasons, his TDP government was troubled in erstwhile AP. Similarly Sharad Pawar’s government was destabilised in Maharashtra,” cited PM Modi.

Adding, “Indira Gandhi as Prime Minister misused Article 356 close 50 times against opposition state governments and overall the Congress invoked Article 356 against oppositions nearly 90 times. In Kerala, PM Nehru brought down the Communist party government,” stated Modi.

Taking it more personal, Modi questioned why Nehru surname is not being used. “In a report it was revealed that there are 600 schemes on Nehru-Gandhi names. If Nehru was really a stalwart why his family is not using his name. Why are they so shy and feeling insecure about using Nehru’s name,” asked PM Modi.
