Back to Back Blows To Thackeray!

In a controversial move, the Election Commission decided to give the ownership of the Shiv Sena party name and symbol to Eknath Shinde’s group. This resulted to be a major setback for the party founder Bal Thackeray’s son Uddhav Thackeray. Even before we come out of this, there’s another blow that hit Uddhav Thackeray.

The Lok Sabha secretariat on Tuesday allotted the Shiv Sena office in Parliament House to the Eknath Shinde-led Faction.

Eight months ago, Eknath Shinde formed the rebel group within the Shiv Sena party. This coup resulted in Uddhav resigning from the Chief Minister’s position. Eventually, Eknath Shinde became the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. For the last eight months, Eknath and Uddhav’s camp has been fighting for the ownership of the party’s name and symbol.

In its 78-page order, the Election Commission stated that Shinde was supported by 76% of the party’s winning MLAs from the 2019 General Elections. That’s the reason why he is given ownership of the party.

On the other side, Uddhav Thackeray condemned both developments. His sources stated that he would approach the Supreme Court to challenge this order.
