Jagan Nods For CBI Inquiry Into Antarvedi Incident

Following hue and cry of Opposition parties who leveled serious allegations on the YSRCP-led state government for not taking attacks on Hindu community and beliefs seriously, CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy has decided to silence his critics. CM Jagan has decided to have a CBI inquiry into the ancient chariot of Antarvedi temple which was gutted in fire in a suspicious manner. AP DGP Gautam Sawang has written to the Union Home Ministry seeking a CBI probe into the incident.

While TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu raised serious concerns over idols vandalisation in Pithapuram and chariot burning at Antarvedi, Janasena Party and BJP have taken the fight a step further. Pawan Kalyan and BJP leaders have resorted to Dharma Parirakshana Diksha. Pawan demanded a CBI probe into the series of incidents and raised suspicion that it could be a terrorist act and asked NIA to intervene into the matter if needed. BJP leaders too made serious comments on the state government for not making any arrests into the Antarvedi incident so far.

All these led to a political war of words between opposition parties and the ruling party. Since it’s a sensitive matter, CM Jagan has decided to not take any chances. Hence he has ordered for a CBI probe into the incident. AP state government on Friday issued a GO ordering CBI probe into the incident. Meanwhile, the government has also issued orders suspending Antarvedi Temple Incarge EO Chakradhar Rao. The government has appointed Additional Commissioner Ramachandramohanan as special officer to monitor the reconstruction works of Chariot at Antarvedi temple. He has been ordered to stay at Antarvedi for 15 days or for next orders and oversee the works at Antarvedi temple. Now Janasena and BJP may claim this as their victory in the episode.
