Jagan to shift to Vizag from Dasara

The YCP government in Andhra Pradesh has decided to shift the administration from Vijayawada to Visakhapatnam and begin governance from the port city this Dasara.

A decision to this effect has been taken by the Cabinet which met in Amaravati on Wednesday. All the government offices will be shifted to Vizag by Vijaya Dasami and administration will begin from there from Dasara.

Further, the YCP government has showered sops on the Secretariat employees.

As part of it, the Cabinet has decided to pass the GPS bill and also ensure that each of the government employees gets a house site by the time they retire from service. It has also been decided that fee reimbursement would be done for the children of the retired employees. Similarly, retired employees and their children would be eligible for availing the benefits of Arogyasri scheme.

All arrangements have been made for shifting the government offices to Vizag. However, there is no clarity on whether the government offices would be shifted because the buildings built in Vizag do not have any facilities to accommodate people in them.

However, the CM alone can go and function from there as arrangements for his stay have been made in Vizag, the reports said. There is information that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy wants to show it to the public that administration would be done from Vizag, before the 2024 elections.

There is information that the CM had asked the ministers and his cadre to be ready for the elections which are likely to be held in January next year. There is no clarity on whether there would be jamili polls or early polls. In any case, the Assembly session to be held this month would be the last one for YCP government because the next session would be held only in January next year.
