Vivek Quits BJP, All Set To Join Congress

Former MP G. Vivek Venkataswamy resigned from the BJP and joined the Congress. Vivek, who is also a member of the BJP national executive committee, submitted his resignation letter to BJP Telangana president G. Kishan Reddy. He was also given the additional duties as the chairman of the BJP manifesto committee.

There is buzz that Vivek is expecting Congress ticket for his son Vamsi too.

Vivek had played a crucial role in the separate Telangana movement in 2014. He was the main force behind unifying all the Telangana Congress MPs in the Parliament and being vocal in representing the need for a separate state.

In 2019, Vivek joined the BJP after quitting the TRS for its ‘betrayal’. He said he was promised the Peddapalli LS constituency but was ditched by being offered only a government advisor post. He also termed KCR as a ‘dictator’ and the TRS government as a ‘privte limited company’.

Vivek, son of former Union minister and Congress veteran G Venkataswamy, was associated with the Congress before joining the TRS during the separate Telangana movement. However, after the formation of separate Telangana he went back to the Congress.

In 2014, Vivek contested from the Peddapalli Parliamentary constituency where he was defeated by TRS’ Balka Suman. Then he joined the TRS again after KCR promised to give him a ticket from Peddapalli during the 2019 general elections. However, when the TRS refused to give him the ticket, he quit the party and joined the BJP.
