YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is touted as the Richest Chief Minister in the country. He created a record in terms of his wealth and assets officially. Ironically, Jagan earlier stated that he does not have money. During the election campaign the recently, Jagan claimed he doesn’t have enough money like his opponent Chandrababu. Jagan has been trying to position himself as pro-poor and trying to own them by playing an underdog role. However, the fact remains that Jagan is the richest CM.
Jagan has been showing the Fan symbol to the public and trying to register YSRCP’s election symbol. He also threw satires at TDP’s Cycle symbol and Janasena’s Glass symbol. CM Jagan continue to stress on the welfare schemes provided by his government and alleging that the welfare schemes now had been stalled because of Chandrababu Naidu. He reiterated that he fulfilled 99 percent of the 2019 poll manifesto. Jagan also referred to TDP’s symbol as ‘Rusted Cycle’ and it is beyond to be repaired.
While Jagan’s sarcasm might appeal to his cadre and his supporters, it needs to be seen how far they will have an impact. The TDP-Janasena-BJP alliance is leaving no stone unturned to corner Jagan. The irregularities of the Land Titling Act raised by the TDP & co have indeed struck a chord with the commoners. This pushed the YSRCP into corners which forced them to counter the opposition’s statements.
Overall, Jagan is just banking on welfare schemes. Whereas the Opposition is promising the development of the state and also welfare schemes for the poor by creating wealth. Chandrababu openly stated that he knows how to generate wealth for the state and asked the people to say ‘Goodbye’ to Jagan. With just 5 days away from the D-day (May 13), both YSRCP and Alliance have upped their campaigns.
