Superfast Tag Removed, Ticket Prices Reduced!

Train passengers in India have some good news. Indian Railways has decided to reduce ticket prices on 47 selected trains from January 1, 2027. According to the latest railway update, passengers may save between Rs 15 and Rs 75 on each ticket depending on the travel class. The price reduction will apply to selected trains across different railway zones.

Indian Railways has decided to remove the Superfast Express status from several trains and change them into regular Express trains. The main reason is that these trains are not maintaining the required superfast speed on their routes.

Superfast Express trains usually have an additional superfast charge in their ticket prices. Regular Express trains do not have this extra charge. Therefore passengers travelling on these trains will pay lower ticket prices after the change.

Railway officials have also clarified that there will be no changes to the existing train timings because of this decision.

Mostly 47 trains will get the benefit of this change. These include selected services operated by Central Railway and East Central Railway.

Some popular trains mentioned in the list include: CSMT-Pune Pragati Express, LTT-Ayodhya Cantt Tulsi Express and Sapt Kranti Express

The railway department is also planning to change the Superfast status of 18 more trains into regular Express services. Some trains will also receive new train numbers as part of the changes.
