The alliance government in Andhra Pradesh has successfully moulded a healthy relationship with the central government. With a proactive, Chandra Babu and Pawan Kalyan leading the charge, the AP government is able to successfully accumulate adequate funding from the central government. This was already evident in the case of the recent budget 2026 allocation and is again clear if we look at the Railway grants announced today.
Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnav announced the railway budget for Andhra Pradesh today, and this tally is nearly double as that of Telangana’s allocations.
Andhra Pradesh is granted Rupees 9417 crore as compared to Telangana’s Rs 5337 crore. It was also announced that Andhra Pradesh will be getting multiple one day Bharath trains and also Namo Bharath trains in the due course.
The primary communication was very clear that Andhra Pradesh will be given adequate priority in the railway budget locations, which is a very positive thing. It was also communicated that Andhra Pradesh will be given top priority when it comes to development of new railway technologies.
Even Telangana is being given significant allocation in terms of Vande Bharat trains as five of these trains are already in operation and more are expected to be added in 2026.
Having the central government in the good books is always a positive sign for local government. It appears that Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan have worked out this district and are bringing necessary favours to a financially struggling state.
