Panchayat Polls: Congress Very Strong, But BRS Is Alive

After the significant defeat in the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections, BRS appeared to have lost momentum. The party then suffered further setbacks in the Secunderabad and Jubilee Hills by elections. Internal issues, including Kavitha distancing herself from the party, added to the damage. The biggest blow came when BRS failed to win a single seat in the MP elections.

However, the latest Panchayat election results suggest that the party is still alive, especially in rural Telangana.

Panchayat Results:

INC: 6,726 (52.85%)

BRS: 4,031 (31.67%)

Others: 1,272 (9.99%)

BJP: 697 (5.47%)

It is clear that the Congress party has become very strong across Telangana under the leadership of Revanth Reddy. This strength is reflected in the results, with Congress winning over 52 percent of the Panchayat seats on its own.

At the same time, BRS has reason to feel encouraged. Winning around 30 percent of the seats shows that the party still has a solid presence, particularly in rural areas. BJP, which performed well in the MP elections, was limited to under 10 percent in these polls.

In many ways, this is an election where both Congress and BRS can take positives. Congress continues to dominate Telangana politics, while BRS can take comfort in the fact that the party is still relevant and active despite recent setbacks.
