As the proposed Bhogapuram International Airport has the potential to act as a stimulus for the economic development of the North Andhra region, the NDA government coalition led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu with the support of central government has been sparing no effort to make it operational by 2026.
With TDP MP and Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu at the helm of Civil Aviation Ministry, the works relating to completion of the airport have picked up pace in the last 18 months. After taking charge as the Minister, Naidu has accorded top priority to this project and frequently reviewed its progress. He announced well in advance that the airport will be opened by June 2026.
Now, the final test run of Bhogapuram International Airport is going to take place on January 4th. One Air India flight from Delhi will land in the new airport at morning 11 o clock. Along side Ram Mohan Naidu, DGCA top officials will also embark this flight and review the preparedness ahead of the deadline.
So far, 95 percent of the project works have already been completed. All pending activities will wrapped up in the next few months before kick starting the regular operations from August after its launch in June. The Civil Aviation Ministry and DGCA is likely to hold a meeting with all airline companies which are going to operate when the airport will be fully functional.
Once the Bhogapuram Airport becomes operational, it will be a huge achievement for both Ram Mohan Naidu and the state government of Andhra Pradesh as the ambitious project will turn into reality in just two years of coming to power.
Recently, Ram Mohan Naidu announced that the Centre with coordination of Andhra Pradesh government has decided to establish an Aviation University near the international airport within six months.
