The NDA government in Andhra Pradesh has delivered a major relief to state government employees and pensioners during the Sankranti festival. Keeping its word, the government cleared long pending Dearness Allowance dues in one go, bringing real festive cheer to thousands of families. Nearly Rs 1100 crore was credited directly into employee and pensioner bank accounts.
The DA arrears had been pending for nearly five years. The present government cleared dues covering around sixty months. This move benefited nearly 2,25,000 CPS employees and about 2,75,000 pensioners across the state. Depending on basic pay, individual employees received amounts ranging from around Rs 30000 to Rs 60000. With money arriving during the festival season, employee unions expressed happiness and relief.
The government also announced good news for the police department. Around 55,000 police personnel received long pending surrender leave dues that they had been waiting for years. In addition, payments worth Rs 1,243 crore were released to contractors who had carried out works funded by NABARD and foreign loans. This is expected to restart stalled projects and give a push to development works in the state.
Recently, leaders of employee associations met CM Chandrababu Naidu and explained their issues. The Chief Minister assured them that dues would be cleared by the festival. As promised, he coordinated with finance department officials and ensured the release of funds before Sankranti. Employee union leaders say this reflects his commitment and sincerity.
Employees say the situation has changed significantly compared to the past, when even salaries were uncertain. Receiving long pending dues before a festival has boosted confidence and morale, and many feel hopeful about better governance and financial discipline going forward.
