South Indian politics are historically known for getting extremely personal as several politicians often erase the fine line between political commentary and personal attacks. A similar trend is being observed in Tamil Nadu politics now.
In what could be considered an extremely pathetic turn of events, Tamil Nadu politics, are now revolving around reputed and senior star heroines.
The latest addition to the list is AIDMK MP Shanmugam, who made a highly objectionable comment against senior actress Nayantara today. While reacting to the recent implementation of CM Stalin, where he has been asking for the dreams of Tamil Nadu people, the AIADMK MP Shanmugam said “I want Nayantara, will you fulfil my dream?”.
This highly objectionable comment from a public representative has not gone well with anyone and there’s a huge public backlash. Everyone is calling out the public representative for holding a responsible position and making a personal derogatory comment about wanting an actress. The women’s commission has also taken serious note of this matter.
This isn’t the first time that Tamil Nadu politics are targeting heroines as it was recently the case of BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagendran, as he targeted Trisha, while commenting about Thalapathy Vijay. He publicly said Vijay must come out of Trisha’s house to understand the Ground level situation in Tamil Nadu. This was also a highly objectionable comment.
It is one thing to target the other politician at whatever capacity, but it is extremely derogatory and objectionable to make such vulgar comments on women of art.
Moreover, these senior actresses have a strong social reputation, and it must be very hard on them to process such insensitive comments from politicians who should be more responsible if anything.
