Following the trend of cinema superstars entering South Indian politics, it is now the turn of Thalapathy Vijay to enter into Tamil Nadu politics as his TVK is contesting the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly election.
In this connection, Vijay submitted his electoral affidavit while submitting the nomination for the Perambur and Trichy East Assembly constituencies today.
This was precisely when something very interesting with regard to his financial declaration was made public as he declared ₹520 crore in assets in his election affidavit.
The TVK Chief declared ₹405 crore of movable assets and ₹115 crore of immovable assets with the total amounting to Rs 520 crore.
This essentially means that Vijay is the richest MLA candidate in the segment pertaining to film actors who entered politics. He has declared the highest valued assets for any Indian actor, who debuted in politics. In the second position, we have Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna, and he is a distant second with Rs 483 crore assets.
At the same time, it must also be noted that Vijay is one of the biggest superstar in South India, and he is also one of the highest paid actor in the segment. So such massive financial declarations are always expected from him anyway.
But on the contrary, Vijay made an interesting comment in his election rally today, as he said, he left all his luxuries to serve the people of Tamil Nadu in politics.
This is being trolled on social media, as people are pointing out that Vijay travels in luxury cars and charted planes while holding party meetings in Taj Coromandel hotels, but he still speaks about quitting luxuries.
Meanwhile, Vijay and his fans are preparing for the upcoming election mandate in Tamil Nadu, as the election is going to be held on April 23 and the results will be out on May 4.
