Why Is Janasena After Old Horses?

AP Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has started the mission to improve the presence of Janasena Party from Grassroots to the State level.

The party had only contested in 21 seats in the last elections. The target now is to have a strong leader in all the 175 constituencies by 2029 elections.

But then, instead of grooming young leaders or helping the already existing leaders, Pawan Kalyan is after the leaders of YSR Congress.

There is buzz that Avanthi Srinivas from Bheemili and Aamanchi Krishnamohan from Chirala are in talks to join Janasena. If admitted, both of the leaders are bad choices for Janasena.

Muttamshetti Srinivas, popularly known as Avanthi Srinivas who has won elections as both an MLA and an MP has represented three different parties across his three electoral victories. He is known for entering the fray only after conducting meticulous surveys to determine not just the right constituency to contest from, but also the winning party to align with.

He has touched Praja Rajyam Party, Congress, TDP, and YSR Congress. And he is now eyeing Janasena. During his stint as minister in Jagan’s rule, we have seen him get caught in a Dirty Phone Call Scandal.

And then, there is Aamanchi Krishnamohan had a notorious image in the region. Also, he had a rift with the Vysya Community in the area and they form a formidable vote bank.

He is also known for shifting parties one after the other. He has switched parties multiple times: Congress → TDP → YSRCP → Congress (joined in April 2024). Contested 2024 on Congress ticket from Chirala and lost.

Both Avanthi Srinivas and Aamanchi Krishamohan are the leaders who only take temporary shelter in the parties in power. They will switch to YSR Congress if they think the party will win.

Instead of betting on old horses like them, Pawan Kalyan should invest in loyal and committed leaders.
