As regressive as it may sound, Andhra Pradesh politics have always been religious and communal in nature. In fact, one of the main reasons behind YS Jagan, remarkable rise to power was the unconditional backing of the Christian community.
There were extensive reports that Christian pastors and religious heads mandated the community to vote for Jagan in 2019 which had positive results for him. A significant version of this population deterred with him in 2024 and the results were blatant as well.
And just when Jagan could be looking to consolidate this vote bank again in 2029, he appears to have found a new detractor in the form of Jada Sravan. This Shravan, who had been speaking against the NDA and slowly aligning with Jagan has taken a U-turn now.
In his latest interaction Jada Shravan questioned the Christian community on the positive impact they had in Jagan’s rule. He gave a strong statement that Jagan did not favor the Christian community, one bit in his tenure. He questioned the pastors who backed Jagan and later understood the betrayal.
Now, many netizens are questioning whether Jada will really question Jagan about the incidents that took place during his regime, including the murders of Dalit Christians such as Dr. Sudhakar and Ericharla Kiran Kumar when Jagan was the Chief Minister.
With a strong vocalist like Sravan taking such a stance, it must be tough for Jagan to polarise this bank in his favour in 2029 as he’d be virtually helpless without this kind of unified wave in this community.
