YSR Congress MLAs have boycotted the AP Assembly for this session as well. Sometime in this session, the House will complete around 60 days of sitting.
Article 190(4) of the Constitution of India states that a member of a state’s legislature can be declared absent if they are absent from all meetings for a period of 60 days without permission.
That means noose is hanging round the necks of YSR Congress MLAs including Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Some of the MLAs have previously signed the attendance register without coming to the house. It has to be seen if that will be counted.
YSR Congress MLAs including Jagan attended the Governor’s Address but the Speaker already confirmed that Attendance is not considered for the Governor’s Address.
So, if the Government is serious about going to By-election, there is a good choice that they can be disqualified.
YSR Congress Cadres are questioning why the same rule is not applied to Chandrababu Naidu who boycotted the Assembly in 2021.
It is true Naidu has boycotted but then, after that, the house only functioned for about 40 days. So, Section 190(4) is not applicable to Naidu.
If we remember, in those days, YSR Congress was so confident of defeating Chandrababu Naidu in Kuppam.
They would have definitely pressed for his disqualification if the rule is applicable to Naidu.
