Pawan Kalyan Wants 100% Strike Rate Again, But…

The deputy chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Pawan Kalyan has returned to active duties in terms of administrative capacity and also the party level functionaries. He has recovered from the shoulder rehabilitation and is back in full flow now.

Incidentally, the deputy CM happened to arrive in Kakinada yesterday, and he held high-level meetings with his party leadership. This was precisely when Pawan Kalyan spoke about the prospect of delivering 100% strike rate again.

This discussion came while Pawan Kalyan was talking about the upcoming local body election with his party leadership as he stressed on maintaining 100% strike rate in the local polls as well.

The last time, Janasena contested the assembly and Parliamentary election, they delivered 100% strike rate and now PK is aiming for a similar result in the local polls. He called for synchronous energy between the assembly level leaders and the local leadership to ensure this.

Kalyan was firm on providing chances to the senior leaders in the party while also encouraging the youngsters and newcomers. He wants the party to find the right balance between rewarding seniority and also encouraging youth at the same time. This is going to be a tough task of balancing act but common ground must be found either way.

It has already been discussed within the party ranks that JSP must fight for only adequate number of seats in the local polls instead of going for ungainly number of seats and messing things up ultimately. So the distribution process needs to be streamlined at the earliest at all costs.

While Pawan Kalyan’s 100% strike rate call may sound energetic to the JSP cadre and Jana Sainiks, repeating the same feat in local body polls will not be an easy task. Ground-level politics work differently in local elections, with separate local equations, personal rivalries, caste dynamics and even the possibility of unanimous elections influencing the outcome.

Kalyan’s confidence can certainly energise the party cadre, the real challenge will be in assessing the ground reality before finalising candidates. Choosing the right candidates with strong local support will be crucial, as the wrong ticket distribution could affect the party’s prospects despite the leadership’s ambitious target.
