Thalapathy Vijay was able to successfully create history in Tamil Nadu by becoming the chief minister of the state in his very first attempt. However, the problem has been with the fact that he had to form alliance with multiple parties in order to generate enough strength to form the government.
Being a first time chief minister and having to deal with these multiple small parties in the alliance is not an easy task by any means, and Vijay is getting to experience the same now.
The problem is coming with the usually litigative left party CPI which is raising voice against their own ally, TVK.
CPI state secretary M. Veerapandian accused members of TVK, DMK, and ADMK of being ready to offer money in the Madurantakam-Dharapuram by-election. He criticized this as unethical politics and a murder of democracy.
Alongside, CPI Tamil Nadu chief Shanmugam claimed that some people in the Maduranthakam constituency told Left party workers that even if they could not distribute as much money as the TVK, they should at least give them something.
“When we asked which party was giving money, they named TVK. Some people even told us, ‘You cannot give as much as TVK, but at least give us something’,” Shanmugam said.
This comment coming from the CPI, which is already in alliance with the TVK government is indicating that all is not well within the alliance. Few political experts are commenting that the CPI might even be preparing for an exit from their outsi
Earlier the same CPI had an issue when 500 school students dressed up as Lord Sriram, Sita Devi and Lakshman during a recent procession. The CPI argued that the TVK government is removing the secular approach of Tamil Nadu by rubbing Hindutva campaign.
It is evident that there are multiple ideological and operational differences between the TVK and the CPI leadership. It has to be seen where this would eventually end up as people are starting to speculate if TVK might have to prepare for a political coup if the CPI decides to quit the alliance in any case.
