Is Jagan’s Long Bonding With BJP Heading For A Break-Up?

YS Jagan has been maintaining equal distance between the BJP and the Congress and their respective alliances ever since he started his political party YSRCP. In fact, Jagan has a strict policy against the Congress party, the party that put him behind the bars for 16 months. Jagan always maintained that he could never forgive Congress or Sonia and Rahul. He took a sweet revenge by wiping out the Congress and establishing his party in Andhra.

Moreover, Jagan supported BJP and its bills in the Parliament. In many crucial times, Jagan through his MPs have favoured the BJP, albeit indirectly. All these are a passe now.

TDP once again got close to BJP and returned to NDA fold along with Janasena this time. The trio delivered a rude shock to Jagan in the 2024 elections, confining his party to 11 MLAs and 4 MPs. With Chandrababu Naidu, Nara Lokesh going all out to support Modi and so is Pawan Kalyan, Jagan became all alone.

In political solitude, Jagan got an opportunity in the form of CJP which is rallying against the ruling BJP. The NEET paper leak row and now the SIR row and the growing demand for the CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation all seems to be in sync with Jagan and his political ideologies.

Jagan’s X post condemning the arrests of Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka has now become a talking point in BJP circles. In his post, Jagan said these arrests won’t resolve the issues and only aggravates the situation. Jagan asked the Centre to restore the trust in the electoral process.

Buzz is that BJP’s top leadership is serious on Jagan. BJP is already choked with CJP’s protests. Earlier, Pradhan had to resign as the Education Minister due to CJP protests and now there are strong demands for CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. Amidst this, a leader like Jagan taking a stand towards CJP and the Congress is hurting the BJP.

Why has Jagan suddenly turned against the BJP? It’s not just politics but many say there is more to it. There are strong rumours that the CBI has intensified its probe in Jagan’s old cases. This is certainly worrying Jagan and his coterie. Many political analysts are speculating that this could be the reason for Jagan to go against the BJP so that he could showcase in future that he is being targeted for his political stance against BJP.

BJP leader and AP Minister Satya Kumar strongly targeted Jagan questioning why he hadn’t raised issues over the election process when he won 151 MLAs and 22 MPs in 2019 elections. He asked Jagan whether the election process becomes correct when he wins and becomes wrong when he loses.

AP BJP’s reaction comes after reported instructions from the BJP’s national leadership to the state leadership to counter Jagan. Looks like, BJP has taken Jagan’s comments seriously and cautiously observing Jagan’s next moves.

Is Jagan playing with the fire? Who is guiding Jagan? These are the questions many in AP are expressing.
