We Can’t Administer Vaccine From May 1st: AP Health dept

From May 1st, everyone above 18 years is eligible to receive the Covid-19 vaccine. However, even before the vaccination program kicks off, a major roadblock has occurred. The Andhra Pradesh health department reportedly said it can’t administer the vaccine from May 1st to people above 18 years.

Citing the shortage in supply, the AP health department stated so. “We have been writing and holding talks with vaccine manufacturing companies. But these companies would be supplying vaccines to the Centre initially and only after the Centre’s criteria is fulfilled, they would be providing to the states. According to their estimates, until June, the companies cannot supply vaccines to the states,” said health department chief secretary Anil Kumar Singhal.

The health secretary also added that they are ensuring there is no shortage of supply of Remdesivir in private hospitals and clear instructions have been sent out to the public. However, the health secretary could not clarify whether the Centre would be providing any quota of vaccines from its end.

For weddings not more than 50 people should attend while parks, gyms and other public gathering places have been closed. Cinema halls, buses are given strict orders to maintain social distancing and violating would be treated severely.
