Tamil Nadu recorded 4.88 crore votes in 2026, up by 23 lakh from 2021, but not a disproportionate rise. Despite expectations of crossing the five-crore mark, turnout fell short. Polling largely remained urban-centric, with limited rural enthusiasm. The absence of any strong wave suggests a subdued electoral mood across the state.
