When it was first announced that Jasprit Bumrah is not going to take part full fledged in the England test series, the natural expectation was that India would largely struggle without him. But the reality proved to be completely different as Mohammed Siraj, put his hand up and literally carried India to a tremendous win.
Siraj was absolutely brilliant with the ball in the 5th innings. He kept bowling persistent lines and did not change his length too much which resulted in the English batsmen getting a bit to tiresome and playing rash shots.
More importantly, Siraj is the only Indian bowler to play in all five test matches in this series, and this would have demanded a lot of physical attributes. But the gun bowler based in Hyderabad was absolutely resilient as he was equally brilliant in all five test matches.
To put that into perspective, Siraj bowl in the range of 185 overs in the five test matches combined, and this would actually accumulate to playing as many as 47 IPL games in a span of a month.
While other stars, like Siraj, were following the workload balance and skipping the Test matches, it was Siraj who played a brilliant set of games for the country.
This will go down as arguably one of the greatest performances by any Indian player in an overseas test series, and Siraj truly deserves all the love that he has been getting since the historic win yesterday.
