Over the last couple of years, Sunrisers Hyderabad have been the most aggressive and dynamic team in the IPL and great things are expected from them in the 2026 is an as well.
But the start of the 2026 season is not a positive one for Sunrisers as they have made a very uncomfortable debut this year.
The aggressive mindset of Sunrisers Hyderabad continued in the opening against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but things did not go exactly as planned. The opening combination of Travis head and Abhishek Sharma failed badly in giving a positive start.
Both of them fell within the first 3 overs which is never a good sign for any team, and more so for a team like Sunrisers Hyderabad that heavily depends on the opening combination.
This was followed by another brain fade moment by Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was expected to anchor the innings, but ended up playing a rash shot in the powerplay. He had been struggling to score runs since last IPL and he had the chance to play along innings today, but somehow messed it up.
As we had been repeatedly, saying, Sunrisers Hyderabad is a team that place by this sword, and it’s ready to go by it. But certain caution is expected from the team at the start of the season, and this balance was been missing in the game against RCB, which resulted in the team losing three wickets within the powerplay.
But at the same time, there is still long way to go in the innings, and we have to wait with patience and see if Sunrisers will make a resounding close off in the first innings to put a challenge in front of defending champions RCB.
