BCCI’s New IPL Decision Invites Monopoly Politics Backlash

Generally, according to the standard practice, the first and also the final game of the IPL season is held at the home Stadium of the team that had won the IPL last year.

However, the BCCI and the IPL governing body have collectively decided that they’re going to change the regulation this term again.

According to the latest communication made by the concerned authorities, it has been confirmed in principle that the final game of the ongoing 2026 season of IPL will be held at the Gujarat Stadium.

This communication made by the BCCI has immediately invited a lot of criticism as people are publicly infuriated with the same as mentioning it as Monopoly politics in sports. They are questioning the need for the BCCI to always favour the Gujarat Stadium for all major games.

Whenever there is a major ICC tournament in India, the Gujarat Stadium always ends up being the prime choice. And now as similar story is repeating in the case of the IPL final as well.

While there are so many good stadiums across the country, which actually have a sporting culture, it is strange to see the Indian Cricket body always go after the Gujarat Stadium.
