The Chennai Super Kings have had a remarkable second half of IPL 2026, as they have been winning games consecutively, and are currently in the playoffs race which looked unlikely at the start of the tournament.

However, the Chennai franchise has faced the significant defeat at the worst possible time as they came up against Lucknow last night and were comprehensively beaten.

Chennai batted first and scored 187 runs thanks to last came from Shivam Dubey. However, Lucknow was simply too good with the bat as they managed to chase down the target with more than 3 overs to spare.

This would not just mean that Chennai would be losing on two crucial points at the crucial stage of the tournament, but their nett run rate will also be seriously affected. This is the last thing that CSK fans wanted at this point in time.

Chennai is currently on the sixth position on the points table, and they will have to win the remaining two games to extent their chances of entering the playoffs. This is going to be a tough fight for Chennai now.
