Kohli Breaks Sachin’s Record!

Virat Kohli has added another massive record to his already remarkable ODI career. During India’s first ODI against West Indies in Thiruvananthapuram, Kohli became only the second batter in cricket history to cross 15,000 runs in the 50-over format, joining Sachin Tendulkar in an exclusive club.

What makes the achievement even more special is the speed at which Kohli reached the landmark. He completed 15,000 ODI runs in just 303 innings, comfortably going past Tendulkar’s previous record of 377 innings. Kohli entered the match needing 59 runs and reached the milestone with a boundary against Alzarri Joseph.

Kohli came into the match with 14,941 ODI runs and continued his strong record against the West Indies. He also brought up his 80th ODI half-century during the innings, adding another milestone to a memorable day.

The record is particularly significant because Tendulkar’s 15,000-run mark had remained untouched for years. While Sachin still leads the overall ODI run charts with 18,426 runs, Kohli has now become the only other batter to enter the 15,000-run club.

Kohli’s achievement also comes as he continues to chase several other major ODI milestones. His latest record once again puts his name alongside Tendulkar’s in the history books, this time after rewriting the record for the fastest journey to 15,000 ODI runs.
