COVID-19 Critical Cases: India Second To The USA

With the governments relaxing restrictions imposed during lockdown to check the spread of Covid-19, the number of cases has been increasing ringing alarming bells in the country.

In the last 24 hours, as many as 9,987 positive cases were registered and 331 succumbed to the infection taking the death toll in the country to 7,476.

With a total of 2,66,598 cases, India is now standing in the fifth position in the world and in the second position with regard to the number of Covid-19 victims in critical condition.

According to the Covid-19 International Statistics Organisation, Worldometer, America tops the list with 16,907 Covid-19 patients in critical condition while India has 8,944 critical cases.

Though Brazil has thrice the number of cases in India, the patients in that country are not in a serious condition. In Russia, the number of critical cases is one-fourth of that in India.

According to the details released by the Union health ministry, by Tuesday morning, the total number of Covid-19 cases in India is at 2,66,598 while the number of deaths due to the virus is less than 5 per cent.

Coming to the victims in the ICU, it is 2.25 per cent and 1.91 per cent of them are being provided oxygen supply.

The major contributors to the increasing number of cases are Maharashtra, Delhi, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh.
