11 Indian Students Arrested In US

Fifteen foreign students have been arrested by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the USA and among them are 11 Indians. The officials claimed that these students are allegedly using a student work visa job program to stay in the US fraudulently.

The students who were arrested used Optional Practical Training (OPT) program to remain in the US and ICE has been doing a special operation by the name Operation OPTical Illusion to search for the students who are using OPT program fraudulently.

ICE officials said that this is just the beginning and more will follow. These arrests will serve a warning to others who are staying in the US without a valid visa.

The arrests were made in Boston, Washington, Houston, Ft. Lauderdale, Newark, Nashville, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg cities and of the four students are two Libyans, one Senegalese and one Bangladeshi national.
