Why Messi Didn’t Play Exhibition Games In India? Reason Inside!

Global football icon, Lionel Messi completed the historic trip to India as he successfully completed GOAT tour. He toured multiple metro cities across the country including Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi through the same.

However, there was this one major shortcoming that happened on this official tour as Messi did not play any exhibition games to a full capacity. Messi limited his visit to India to casual play sessions and interactions with celebrities and young footballers, instead of taking part in a full match.

This is primarily due to the fact that Messi has a very costly insurance to his left leg, which reportedly costs in the range of $900 million. This insurance restrict him from taking part in any unauthorised football games, apart from his scheduled games for Argentina, national team and Inter Miami club. If he gets injured in any unauthorised games, like the ones on his India trip, the insurance will not be valid.

This is reportedly the reason why he did not indulge in any exhibition games while on his trip to India as he wanted to keep up with the conditions of his insurance. He simply did not want to take any risks with injuries, and that is the reason why he stayed away from indulging in any full football game activities.
