Varun Chakravarthy Registers Best Bowling Figures Of This Season

From the last few days, we are witnessing that the pitches are getting slow in the UAE. Even in a small stadium of Sharjah, CSK managed to get only 144 runs. That proves how slow these stadiums have become. This will now allow bowlers to unleash their potential. They are already recording some good figures and the other day, we witnessed the best bowling figures for this year’s IPL. It was made by Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Varun Chakravarthy.

Varun scalped five wickets by giving away only 20 runs in the game against Delhi Capitals. He played a crucial role in dismissing Delhi’s dangerous batsmen. He got the wickets of Shreyas Iyer, Rishab Pant, Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis and Axar Patel. Varun dismantled Delhi’s middle-order and never allowed them to chase the target of 195.

Varun’s bowling figures are the 16th best bowling figures in the history of IPL. This is the first fifer of this season. We have to see if any other bowler manages to achieve the feat in this edition. Varun also got the man of the match award for his exemplary performance in this game. It is a commendable effort from this young bowler to outshine the likes of Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav.

Kolkata made a huge total of 194 in this game. Delhi completely failed in chasing it and ended their innings at 135/9 in 20 overs. With this win, Kolkata further moved ahead in the playoff race.
