Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Students Jump to Escape, Some Still Missing

The AI flight which crashed into the BJ Medical College hostel in Ahmedabad wreaked havoc and killed many on the ground, including four doctors and wife of another doctor.

In a latest development, a video showing how other inmates in the hostel tried to get out of the damaged building has gone viral on the internet. In the video, a woman doctor is seen helped by two of her male friends on either side, standing in the balcony, in jumping down the building.

The woman doctor somehow manages to get down the building after her friends assist her in hanging to the grills of the balcony and then catching other support rods in the lower floors, to reach the ground.

Later, one of the two male doctors who assisted the woman doctor ties a long cloth to the balcony grills which can support him and his friend get down. Meanwhile, one other doctor is seen to have already got down the building and managing to reach the compound wall.

According to reports, five other doctors, including three first year and two second year students, who suffered serious injuries are still undergoing treatment in Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. Their condition is said to be critical and are being treated by their doctor friends.

Police are yet to trace two third year students and three family members of another doctor, who went missing during the crash. Twenty other students, who are said to have suffered minor injuries, have been discharged as they have recovered from the shock.

The two black boxes fitted in the plane have been recovered from the debris, which are expected to provide crucial clues in understanding what led to sudden collapse of the two engines in the plane and conversation between the pilots in the cockpit.
