One of the wealthiest and most certainly politically influential families in the country is the famous Ambani family. This family owns and operates the reliance company, which is a multi billion dollar ecosystem with a wide reach in the consumer market.
Coming to the topic now, the latest developments are suggesting that the Supreme Court has ordered an SIT probe on the Vantara Zoo that is funded by the Ambani family and is located in Gujarat.
The Supreme Court’s decision to form an SIT led by retired Justice J. Chelameswar to investigate Vantara, a 3,500-acre wildlife rescue center in Jamnagar primarily comes from allegations of illegal animal imports, notably elephants, and potential money laundering.
The SIT team will be investigating the case henceforth and they are supposed to file the final report by 12 September this year.
Incidentally, Vantara Zoo which is led by Anant Ambani and inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi in March this year, has faced scrutiny from a report suggesting it may fuel illegal wildlife trade, importing 39,000 animals from 32 countries, including trafficking hotspots.
A under the wildlife preservation act was also filed against this operational zoo. Main complaints that are filed against the zoo or animal trafficking and possible money laundering. More details will emerge once the investigation starts and subsequent details unravel.
