India’s proposed South Bullet Train corridor is set to bring four major cities closer. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced plans to connect Bengaluru with Hyderabad, Amaravati and Chennai through the high-speed rail network.
The proposed corridor is expected to give a major boost to connectivity across South India. According to Vaishnaw, the Bengaluru-Chennai journey could take just 73 minutes, while Bengaluru and Hyderabad could be connected in around 2 hours and 10 minutes.
The project is expected to link important technology, business and economic centres, making travel between these cities much faster. It could also improve business opportunities and strengthen economic ties between the southern states.
Vaishnaw made the announcement while flagging off the Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper service on Sunday. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had approved the South Bullet Train corridor as part of India’s larger high-speed rail expansion plans.
The proposed network could become a major development for South India, with Hyderabad and Amaravati also expected to benefit from faster connectivity with Bengaluru and Chennai.
