Corona: More than 10K Indians tested positive in Gulf countries

The coronavirus cases in India have completely become wayward and headstrong with the country registering its highest surge in covid19 cases and deaths in the last 24 hours. Yesterday, 3875 positive cases were confirmed along wit 194 deaths. This makes the total number as 46711 cases with 1583 deaths.

Amid this ordeal and huge spike in the country, a report has claimed that over 10,000 Indian nationals residing in the Gulf countries have tested positive for the novel virus. Also, the virus has claimed 84 NRI lives in the Gulf. As we know, the Ministry of Home Affairs is organizing the evacuation and planned to operate 64 flights from May 7-13 to bring back around 15,000 stranded Indian nationals from abroad.

The news of 10K getting infected in the gulf is indeed shocking with the parallel news of evacuation. It is also said that more than 3 lakh from the Gulf countries have registered for evacuation but the Indian government told that it will bring back only those citizens who are in emergencies, medical need, expiry of visas and concerns of deportation.

“All those who will travel will be tested and they will be Covid-19 negative certified,” officials tweeted. The evacuation process will have the flights carry fellow Indians from 12 countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the Maldives, Singapore, and the United States.
