Italy Is Back To Lockdown Amid Covid Spike

One of the most affected countries in the world due to Covid-19, Italy, is going back to lockdown again. The surge in Covid-19 cases is forcing the country towards lockdown.

Italy’s lockdown begins this Monday in the most populated regions except for work, health, or other essential reasons. Italy will be in stay-home, lockdown for Easter weekend and it was the same last year too.

Italy’s Covid-19 cases have been rising drastically and the number has reached 25,000 cases a day over the past six weeks. The delay in the vaccination campaign seems to be the reason for the cases spike. Health officials are worried about the new and highly contagious variants, while only three percent of the whole population are vaccinated as of now.

The Italy Prime minister said they are administering about 170,000 doses each day and now planning to triple that. Italy so far lost more than 100,000 people due to Covid-19, the second-highest in Europe after the UK.
