Alarming: 1,84,372 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours

In a startling spike in India’s active Covid-19 cases, an alarming 1,84,372 fresh positive cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours. 1027 new Covid-related deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. The total Covid death count in the country reached 1,72,085. These are as per the data showed at 8 am.

With the latest 1.84 lakh cases, the active Covid-19 caseload touched 13,65,704 which is the highest active Covid cases in the country so far. This stands at 9.85 percent of the total infections.

Instead of enforcing a strict lockdown, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has announced tough restrictions in the state for the next 15 days including a ban on social gatherings, public movement and only allowed essential activities. He said that the Covid-19 is “exploding dangerously” in the state.

On the other hand, hospitals across the country are witnessing a heavy rush. The demand for beds in hospitals has also increased. The states are also requesting the Centre to provide vaccine doses in the wake of shortage.
