In a historic move, the government of the USA has now allowed its citizens to stop wearing masks outdoors in crowds and in most indoor settings. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention eased this mask-wearing guidance for fully vaccinated people in the country.
President Joe Biden termed this is a ‘great day’ in the fight against the coronavirus and his people can now ‘smile’ once again. Biden also affirmed that the rules are eased only for the people who received two shots of the vaccine.
Speaking in a nationally televised address at the White House, Biden said, “Please protect yourself until we get to the finish line. Because as great as this announcement is, we don’t want to let up. We all know how tough this virus is. The safest thing for the country is for everyone to get vaccinated.”
Though the US eased rules for people who got both shots of vaccine, the situation is quite different in India. The virus is still raving here and it is recommended for people to wear masks even after getting two doses of vaccination.
There is a long way to go to achieve the same in India and we will get there is the hope that is currently driving all of us.
