Tamil Cinema’s 1000 Crore Remains Dream!

Tamil Cinema has been craving for its biggest dream-ever to achieve the feat of 1000 Crore box-office revenue. The 1000 Crore club has been eluding Kollywood for so long. Even filmmakers like Shankar, Atlee, Lokesh Kanagaraj, Murugadoss, Nelson, Mani Ratnam have so far not been able to make this feat possible.

Superstars Rajinikanth, Vijay, Ajith, Suriya, Dhanush, Kamal Haasan, Vikram, Karthi, Sivakarthikeyan etc actors couldn’t make this feat possible so far. When Vijay was still in movies there was a lot of expectation on his Leo to make this feat possible, but the film failed miserably. Even Rajinikanth’s Coolie that was expected to make it has failed.

While there were a lot of hopes on Jailer 2 as there was Superstar Rajinikanth’s mania, sequel advantage combined with Dasara festival and Anirudh’s background score in the film’s favour. However, going by the current box-office trends, Jailer 2 may also not going to attain this record. As per trade reports, Jailer 2 is expected to close around 700 to 750 Crore world-wide box-office in its full run.

It needs to be seen who is going to achieve this record from Tamil cinema. For now, expectations are on Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan’s upcoming multi-starrer and other stars as Vijay has completely moved onto politics. If Rajini-Kamal together delivers this, it is going to be a historic feat in Kollywood. Let’s hope for the best.
