Radhika Apte is one of those Indian stars for whom cinema is not just an instrument of stardom. With her acting prowess in all depths of sentimentality, the diva of the block has mastered her craft in all its glory. After making her debut with Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi in Bollywood, the actress starred in several films including Rakht Charitra (part 1 and 2), Badlapur, Hunterrr, and more.
The role in Parched, where Radhika essayed the role of a s*x worker in the film, was critically acclaimed. The talented actress also fell victim to scandals when a video of hers was leaked. Radhika said that she stripped for the film, realising there was nothing left for her to hide.
She said she really needed a role like the one in Parched because when people work in Bollywood, they are constantly told what to do with their body. And the actress added that she always maintained that she would never do anything to her face and body.
“When a nude clip of mine leaked, while I was filming Clean Shaven, I was trolled badly, and it did affect me. I couldn’t step out of the house for four days, not because of what the media was saying but because my driver, watchman, and my stylist’s driver recognised me from the images,” she said at her recent interview.
She also spoke about her controversial photos, which were bare-skinned selfies. The actress told that anyone with a sane eye would have guessed that it wasn’t her in those pictures. “There is nothing one can do or do, but just ignore it,” she added.
This recurrent hype over her bold and sensuous videos/pictures has unwittingly turned in the favour of her on few films then, including the Telugu film, Lion. The leaked video has brought Radhika constantly in news. But just when Radhika was turning to be extremely good in the South, she had passed a remark on Tollywood being male-dominated which added to the controversy all over again.
To date, Radhika is popularly known as an actress who does not shy away from performing scenes that do no fit ‘right’ in the Indian culture and take up roles that challenge cultural curtailment. The actress was recently seen in the OK Computer with Jackie Shroff and Vijay Varma. It is being reported that Radhika Apte is currently busy with a web show titled Shantaram.
