Finally, noticing the severe backlash across the country against his deafening silence over the barbaric gangrapes of two young girls in J&K's Kathua and UP's Unnao, PM Narendra Modi has broken his silence. Talking about both the victims in a press release, Modi said, "Our daughters will definitely get justice."
Modi went on to say that no culprit would be spared and complete justice would be done in the Kathua and Unnao gangrape incidents. "Such incidents shake our sensibilities," Modi said.
Modi's response comes a day after the Leader of Opposition and Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi's demand of Modi's intervention in the issue. "Modi ji's silence is unacceptable," Rahul Gandhi said during his candlelight protest at the India Gate in New Delhi last night.
In Kathua, an 8-year-old nomadic Bakarwal tribal girl named Asifa was raped and murdered at the Devisthan temple. The J&K Police have arrested 8 culprits in connection with the crime. On the other hand, in Unnao, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar. He is being interrogated by the CBI.
