DMK Party in Tamil Nadu just like YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh got defeated in this election. Even though, the quantum of the defeat is not comparable, DMK fell from 133 seats to just 59 in this election. YSR Congress’s defeat is much shocking and humiliating.
Both the Governments when in power, focused too much on welfare and delivered many schemes but at the end that did not matter. However, there are two common factors for the defeat of both the parties.
Firstly, the leadership from top to bottom were high on power and lost connection with the ground reality and the masses. Public will tolerate anything but not arrogance. When they thought they were going too much, they decided to send them home.
The second factor is not the usually visible one but both the parties in power went after the film industry and troubled them big time even though their ways are different.
We all know how Jagan Mohan Reddy was after the industry with ridiculous ticket pricing and insulting the stars who came to meet him. DMK’s iron grip on the film industry is worse in another way.
The distribution system there totally collapsed and Red Giant Movies belonging to Stalin’s Family is the only leading distribution house. All the films there should release through Red Giant only and on the rate they decide. They used to create hurdles for non-aligned films.
We remember how Vijay’s Leo was troubled just before the release after they suspected the actor to be making his political debut against DMK.
The DMK Government also stopped giving permission for early morning shows which is also aimed at targeting Vijay’s films majorly.
Sun TV also belonging to Stalin’s extended family. The Channel grew into Number One with Stalin Government’s help and emerged as market leader.
It consistently secures rights for major big-star and high-budget films, with dedicated industry trackers and YouTube updates focusing heavily on its 2025–2026 acquisitions.
It is majorly because of Sun TV’s hold on the industry due to Stalin Government and the fact that it grew into a dominant position with the Government Support.
MK Stalin’s Son Udhayanidhi Stalin emerged as the keyman in controlling the industry.
The Tamil film industry feels relaxed with DMK Government gone just like how Tollywood was relaxed when Jagan was gone.
