IMAX @ Hyd: Audience Can’t Afford Another Disappointment!

Hyderabad is referred as the cinema capital of South India for its long standing tryst with Tollywood. The city has numerous iconic single screen theatres and top class multiplexes, which provide premium viewing experience for moviegoers.

But, only thing that missing is a large format IMAX screen. Cinephiles have been waiting anxiously for an IMAX screen in the city for ages. Since the last one year, the buzz has intensified with industry bigwigs like director SS Rajamouli and producer Sunil Narang hinting that the long wait could end very soon.

The latest development suggests that the dream of movie enthusiasts is likely to turn a reality this time as Sunil Narang , who is head of leading theatre chain ASIAN Cinemas Group, once again reiterated that announcement about Hyderabad’s IMAX screen will be out in the next few days. This statement has revived buzz among audiences and industry circles.

Last year, Sunil Narang made a similar statement about IMAX group partnering with ASIAN Cinemas to set up a screen in Hyderabad. However, head of IMAX Corporation India has denied any such collaboration, much to the disappointment of Tollywood.

His latest announcement about IMAX has once again sparked a huge buzz and everyone is hoping that this time it is likely to materialize as telugu moviegoers are not ready for another disappointment like last year.

Two decades ago, Hyderabad people had a taste of IMAX in Prasads Screens. However, the original IMAX 70mm projector was removed in 2014. Over the decade, cinema has evolved a lot with advancements in technologies. Movie lovers have been treated different premium formats to enhance their viewing experience.

But, they are yearning for an IMAX screen which will be definitely provide a unique and wholesome experience while watching big-budget films like Varanasi, Raaka, Kalki 2 are being mounted as visual extravaganzas with massive budgets.
