Gulte.com’s Journalist Nishant sat with Singer Sunitha to discuss the objectification and exploitation of women.
As someone who is in the industry for 31 years, Sunitha discusses the challenges women faces in the industry and society as a whole.
However, she has a balanced approach saying that the buck does not stop just with men in this matter and says the women are also equally responsible.
She talks about what it takes to say ‘NO’ in the industry and how saying ‘No’ will trigger male ego and that will have consequences.
She also refuses to buy the Feminism being peddled by some women these days. She says Feminism is not about the dresses women wear or about roaming at nights.
“Feminism for me is all about the equality. If I am in a room surrounded by men, my opinion should be respected and taken seriously. My Feminism is about fighting against looking down up on women feeling that they are dumb,” she says.
“Men and women are of course not equal because they are two different kinds. Women does not possess the physical strength men have but they can do many things men can not do. So, the equality is different,” she adds.
