Andhra Pradesh chief minister, Chandrababu Naidu had set multiple big goals for the state, including the development index of automotive engineering, renewable energy source, and the quantum hub of the country.
For now, the discussion is about the automotive industry as Andhra Pradesh has been making solid progress in this direction.
There are multiple reports about LG entering the automotive industry in India by establishing a dedicated plant in the Sri city region of the Rayalaseema belt.
Reportedly, LG Electronics India is set to manufacture in-vehicle infotainment systems and telematics solutions at its third manufacturing plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, marking its entry into the Indian automotive sector.
Along with this, Kia Motors is reportedly planning to expand its Anantapur manufacturing facility, targeting an annual production capacity of 5 lakh vehicles. An official announcement and MoU signing are expected at the CII Partnership Summit.
Reportedly, Kia is planning a $1.5 billion which roughly converts to ₹13,000 crore investment to expand its Anantapur manufacturing facility.
It is evident that some of the biggest automobile engineering companies in the world are looking at Andhra Pradesh, due to the incentives and ease of doing business here.
However, the crucial difference here is that this development index must be on the positive tone for multiple years rather than a five year period. Everyone saw the kind of pressure that was exerted on Kia during the previous YCP administration, which almost drove the company away from the state.
So for this ongoing automobile boom to continue in Andhra Pradesh with big companies like Kia and LG looking to expand operations, solid governance of the NDA must be a consistent feature rather than a momentary push. Perhaps this is the reason why Chandrababu and Lokesh had been calling for 15 years of consistent NDA rule which would change the phase of AP’s future.
